Speaker: Tim F Nash

Tim was born in Jersey in the British Channel Islands but grew up in a non-Christian home in international communities.

He became a Christian through the testimony of a Roman Catholic baby-sitter in a hotel bedroom in Malta at the age of 7.

He began to grow when he started to read through the New Testament he was given at school in Jersey by the Gideons when he was 11.

He was baptised and confirmed in the Anglican Church at Eastbourne College chapel aged 13.

At Oxford University he engaged with Christians from a broad range of traditions from Greek Orthodox to Charismatic Community and frequently attended services where NT Wright was Chaplain.   In the summer break of 1989, Tim preached his first ‘sermon’ in Mandarin Chinese in a small church in Taipei (Taiwan) during an Operation Mobilisation outreach.

After he was married aged 24, Tim moved to Cambridge and settled at Eden Baptist Church where he learned expository preaching (from wonderful scholars like Roy Clements and Don Carson) and studied New Testament Greek.

When he bought a house in Melbourn, Tim moved to the local Baptist Church where he was baptised by full-immersion and began to preach regularly from 1998, both in his home church and elsewhere.

Three years later, Tim spent two years studying for a Biblical and Inter-Cultural Studies degree at All Nations Christian College before moving to China, where he was appointed as an elder of the ecumenical Tianjin International Fellowship with particular responsibility for the preaching programme.  It was there that he was first introduced to one of his favourite preachers, Tim Keller of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City.

In 2011, back in Jersey, Tim took up the role of Assistant Minister at  St Paul’s independent Anglican church and became a founding member of the Business Connect leadership team.  He was also regularly invited to contribute a ‘Morning Thought’ on the local BBC radio station.

In 2014, Tim moved to London where, with his wife and family, he serves in various capacities at St Mark’s Church on Battersea Rise.  He is particularly inspired by the preaching of Brian Zahnd, pastor of Word of Life Church in St Joseph (Missouri) and Greg Boyd, pastor of Woodland Hills Church in St Paul (Minnesota).
